Project Description
Bass drum arms are often missing from vintage kits and hard to replace due to their cost. This project was a ‘new build’ combining a broken cymbal stand and an L arm which I had kicking about. The cymbal stand top section has enough metal at the tilter to make it possible to adapt to fit into the bottom tube of the stand when all parts are ‘liberated’ from each other. By flipping the lower part upside down and shortening the tube to the right length the top section is created. I shim the cymbal tilter and then heat the tube section to expand before fitting it all together. Let it cool and then it’s ready to use.
