Project Description
So you want to play in a Beatles cover band but you don’t want to take your 1966 downbeat on the road? Solution; build a replica tribute kit!
Built up from period correct genuine parts and reclaimed shells this kit pays tribute to the Fab Four drums that Ringo Starr used before he went to the larger sizes. 20×14, 14×14 and 12×8 wrapped in vintage black oyster pearl from Delmar. It pretty much hits all the right notes and is not going to make you cry if it gets a few nicks and scratches…
This is what was done:
- Period 3 ply shells sourced for the 12 and 20. The 14 came from the late Len Howe (one of his own tribute shells).
- All genuine 60s/70s lugs and brackets
- Delmar wrap
- Custom aged logo display head
- Rims are from various kits but not period correct
- Bass drum hoops painted in black
- Finished with white coated Ambassadors
This kit was sold on my behalf by a colleague in the trade – many thanks. (the floor tom pictured is not the one sold with the kit. A period correct shell was sourced and the lugs mounted in the correct lower positions).
