Project Description

Customers commission to restore his set of vintage Edgeware drum shells which had delaminated at the re-rings and gone out of round.

These are lovely old Edgeware (B&H) English drums form the 60s. The snare and 12″ were out of round and all of the drums had glue lift at the re-rings. After stripping off the old wrap and re-gluing the rings we steamed the shells and clamped and braced them to bring them closer to the ’round’ and make them playable again. The snare worked fine but the 12″ was still slightly ‘egg like’. To solve this we used Remo Classic Fit heads which have a larger collar size.

All the shells were then wrapped in vintage white marine pearl to bring them back to life. One of the bass drum hoops was broken and delaminated so this was repaired and the hoops re-painted in classic silver. New inlays were added and then they were ready to go back to their owner.

The snare was re-built by ourselves with new heads and a set of Puresound wires.
