Project Description

This kit came to me as a ‘project’ where the previous customer had tried to refinish the drums in white paint. However the silver lining was that the chrome was almost perfect so it was ripe for a complete restoration. These are all matched mid 70’s OW1 label jasper shells in ‘Name Band’ configuration. Sadly the other issue is that the drums had a some point been given the pleasure of some Rogers ‘Big R’ tom holders and legs leaving large holes which all needed to be corrected.

The drums were all stripped to bare maple, the large holes were filled with maple from other drums cut to fit and the smaller holes corrected with dowels. The shells were then stained back to a period walnut and finished in a vintage lacquer. Hoops were given Delmar silver glass glitter inlays and a brand new set of ‘crows feet’ spurs sourced from Gretsch. The silver inside paint was touched up where required and one paper label OW1 replaced due to it being ripped with the matching serial number. This is what we class to be a complete restoration…
